Just like in the U.S., inflation has impacted the cost of materials—sewing supplies, soap-making materials, food, fuel for the generator, and transportation. The cost increases we face in Uganda will result in a projected budget shortfall of $30,000 in 2025. We wish you could meet Ruth.
She is 17-years old and, due to the death of her parents, is responsible for raising 5 children. The children include her younger siblings and the orphans of relatives. She cannot feed them every day or pay for the fees to attend public school.
"We slept hungry last night" is a phrase not too uncommon to hear.
We are writing to you today for Ruth and others like her. Men and women who are ambitious and have dreams to support themselves and the ones they love. Ruth's dream is to own a tailoring shop.
