Even before joining our program, Lillian was impressive. She was already crocheting and selling bags, showcasing her natural business acumen and creativity. When she learned about the sewing classes you’ve made possible, Akello’s eagerness to expand her skills led her to become one of our first and most outstanding students.

Your support provided Lillian with free education and all necessary materials, allowing her innate talents to flourish. She shares, “The classes were so good, interesting and inspiring with new ideas, I was so motivated to do more. I didn’t know how to sew but I quickly learned. Even in the last two days, I have sewn 32 new handbags.”

Thanks to the training you’ve funded, Lillian has expanded her product line to include backpacks, tote bags, and quilts. This diversification has significantly increased her income, allowing her, as a single mother, to provide for her children’s education, nutrition, and healthcare.

But Lillian’s ambition doesn’t stop there. With her increased earnings, she’s invested in land, saying proudly, “I am now becoming a landowner! With this one acre of land, I am establishing my sewing business along with a new farming business.”

Your support has not only changed Lillian’s life but created a ripple effect in her community. She’s now teaching ten other women to be entrepreneurs, multiplying the impact of your generosity.

As Lillian takes steps to formalize her business and contribute to her city through taxes, she embodies the vision of Empowering Ugandans: helping resilient, hardworking individuals build better lives for themselves and their communities.
